About me
I was born in 1984 in Arnhem, The Netherlands. I started studying Computer Science at Nijmegen University in 2002. After three years, I completed my Bachelor degree. I continued my Computer Science study, specializing on the topics Embedded systems and Security during my Computer Science Master. After having written my thesis at the Engineering college of Aarhus in Denmark, I graduated with honors as a Master of Science in 2007.
During my time in Nijmegen, Hugo Brakman and I have set up Xivios, which is a business developing web-based information management solutions, with a focus on balancing custom and generic code, to reduce development costs, but at the same time providing the advantages of custom code bases.
Continuing the research path I have set out during my study, I am now doing my PhD at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands. Currently, my main focus is on Model Driven Software Evolution. A secondary focus is on the use of formal methods in computer science, more specifically, I am a member of the Overture community, developing an open-source set of VDM++ supporting tools.
Really about me
After you have or have not read all formalities above, this is the real about me:
I'm 23 years old. I was born in a regular city in the east of Holland and have enjoyed living there for about 21 years of my life. Over a year ago, I moved to Denmark for half a year, to also enjoy the Danish way of living and of course to study. All went well and I have now started my PhD in Delft, a small village in the west of Holland. I am currently living in The Hague and enjoying life here, so I will probably stay for a while.
From the 'About me' you might have guessed that I am interested in computers. Well, you are right. In addition to that, I have swum for a very long time, but stopped when I started to study. I have tried several more or less active occupation since then, but am currently in between sports ;) Cycling and/or rock climbing will probably be next. I have recently started to learn to play piano (or am trying to). Without any previous musical attempts, it does not sound like much yet, but it is fun and improving. I also very much like traveling. Especially hiking. This year, plans are to at least go to Madrid (to visit the city). But I am planning on also doing some hiking. Whereto is still to be decided, so if you have suggestions, let me know.
